unraveled wednesday | 9.23.20 …

this second day of autumn has been a real treat: perfect temps – just cool enough for a lightweight shirt; bright sunshine; crystal blue sky; a soft breeze to caress one’s cheeks. and just before the sun sets, the moon.

last thursday I took a quick trip to Barnes and Noble and bought a few books – to add to my ever growing TBR pile. Among them: Marie Kondo’s newest : Joy at Work or how to organize your professional life. I don’t have a professional life but I do like to read books on productivity/time management – sort of a palette cleanser, I suppose. I also purchased Yaa Gyasi’s Transcendent Kingdom, Gretchen Rubin’s next #happierpodcastbookclub selection.

speaking of podcasts, on my walk today I listened to Brene Brown’s “Unlocking Us” on which she shared her feelings about RBG. and yes, I can totally relate…as I’m sure many us can and do.

I am slowly finishing Knips (knitting in progress-or not- projects) – it’s easy to pick them up when watching tv* … and provides good warm up practice for when I return to reknitting the Afghan block I goofed up on a while back.

joining Kat and friends for unraveled wednesday

Cheers~

*watching tv is hazardous to our health…and a reminder: next Tuesday, 29 September is the one little word link up.

  1. what a gorgeous photo of the moon! I, too, listened to Brené’s podcast this morning (in my car, for pantry deliveries) and totally related … also, added a “look up that show on Netflix” to my mental list. and smiled that Tennis is a play activity. I will say – the ONE predictable time I have these days when I do NOT think about the terrible news is when I am on the tennis court and 100% focused on just getting the ball over the net.

  2. I finished Yaa Gyasi’s Homegoing last week (devastating but wonderful,) and started Transcendent Kingdom yesterday. They are such different books, but both are beautifully written and filled with insights. I’m having a hard time putting Transcendent Kingdom down, but my To Do list is long enough that I really don’t have a choice. Great photo!

  3. I am really looking forward to hearing your thoughts on Transcendent Kingdom — I’ve heard good things, and I really enjoyed Homegoing. Thanks for the head’s up about Brene Brown talking about RBG. I’m still processing her loss.

  4. Enjoying your lyrical autumn day vicariously, and how lovely to see the moon in the blue sky … Nothing like a trip to the bookshop to lift the spirits? As ever, I will be checking out your book choices, and will be interested to hear what you think of “The Joy of Work”. Ouch, you’re a bit hard on yourself about that Afghan? I am only watching programmes which have a feel-good factor: the latest series of The Great British Bake Off has started and it’s perfect :). Do you have something similar there?

  5. I think you might have invented/created a new knitting word – knips. It’s perfect. Such a beautiful sky. I have been watching the moon the last few days reminding myself we all live under the same sky. Thanks for the reminder about one little word.
